芹沢鴨ら大和屋を焼き討ちする 。/ 文久3（1863）年8月12日
文久3年8月12日、壬生で大坂力士と壬生浪士組の合同相撲興行が行われました。
その晩、壬生浪士組の筆頭局長・芹沢鴨ら36名が葭屋町通一条の生糸商大和屋を焼き討ちしました。
襲撃には大砲も使用され、芹沢は屋根に登り、隊士達に激を飛ばしました。
焼き討ちの原因は、天誅組に資金を提供したと聞きつけた芹沢が金策を申し入れたところ「主人が不在」という理由で断られたため、腹いせに火をつけたというもの。
背景には芹沢局長の相撲興行を取り仕切る近藤局長への敵対心があったとも言われている。
