伏見城、西軍の猛攻に陥落/慶長5（1600）年8月1日
慶長5（1600）年8月1日、家康の家臣・鳥居元忠が守る伏見城が、西軍四万の攻撃により、ついに陥落しました。
元忠は、小田原攻めの時になき豊臣秀吉より感状を受けた武将。
奇しくも秀吉ゆかりの伏見城で自刃することになりました。
この時、元忠はじめ約380名が自刃した伏見城の床は、京都市内の正伝寺（写真）、養源院、源光庵、宝泉院など各寺院の天井に、「血天井」として残っています。
