広島に原子爆弾投下。/ 昭和20（1945）年8月6日
昭和20年、午前8時45分、広島に原子爆弾が投下されました。上空には不気味なきのこ雲が広がりました。激しい熱線と爆風によって、一瞬のうちに広島の町は炎上し、十数万人以上の犠牲者が出ました。
投下された原子爆弾はアメリカが先月開発に成功したばかりのもの、投下の原因は、先のポツダム宣言に応じない日本に無条件克服させるという軍事的手段以外にも、対立するソ連に対する国際政治上のデモンストレーションとしての意味合いも強かったそうです。
